Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the Session Fee?

A session fee is basically a retainer fee. It is compensation for the time and work invested into creative setups, prop/equipment use, and artistically edited images in an online viewing gallery. It does not include any products, prints, or digital files. An invoice will be emailed to you and is to be paid within 48 hours for your session spot to be secure.

What are the details with a Newborn Session?

Newborn sessions take place when your sweet little baby is 18 days old or less. This ensures that they are sleepiest and “squishiest” for the session, creating adorable setups and images. Regular newborn sessions are between 2-3 hours in length. Mini newborn session are an hour in length. It is highly encouraged you book your newborn session before baby is born! Spots fill up quickly and I hate nothing more than turning parents away. Upon booking your session, a detailed newborn session  guide is provided via email to help prepare you for the session and answer any questions you might have. I am a bit of a prop addict, so loads of gorgeous, handmade headbands, tiebacks, and bonnets are provided as well as blankets/backdrops and crates, bowls, and other cute props to put baby in 🙂 Sessions are focused mainly on baby, however parent shots and sibling shots are included in the regular newborn session.

What are the details with a Child or Family Session?

Child and family sessions are on average an hour long. They typically take place outdoors at a gorgeous location, however, if you prefer to have an indoors session at my studio, that is fine, too! A prep guide is emailed upon request prior to the session with information on wardrobe, what to expect, and how to prepare for a successful session! Outdoor sessions take place one-two hours prior to sunset- trust me, it’s worth keeping those kiddos awake a little longer. Lighting is everything for a beautiful session!

What are the details with a Maternity Session?

Maternity sessions are best done when Mom is between 30-35 weeks along to ensure she is “showing” and most comfortable. These sessions also take place at a gorgeous outdoor location, however can be done indoors at my studio as well. A session prep guide will be emailed upon booking that provides information on wardrobe and what you can expect from the session! Outdoor sessions take place one-two hours prior to sunset- again, trust me! It is worth it 🙂

What happens if you, or your child, are sick for the session?

Sickness does happen, this I do know 🙂 I will do my best to accommodate you in rescheduling the session as soon as possible. If for some reason you will need to cancel a second time, there is a cancellation/rescheduling fee to accommodate for time and lost wages.

Are animals allowed at a session?

I do allow pets to be in pictures, however, details regarding this will need to be discussed prior to the session. Animals also count as a “person” so if this brings your group total above six people, it is an additional $25 per pet/subject.

Where and when do outdoor sessions take place?

First off, outdoor sessions take place one-two hours prior to sunset! It is when the lighting is most beautiful and flattering! I will make certain exceptions, on a session-by-session dependant basis 🙂 I have many outdoor locations for use! I am definitely open to suggestions for new locations! The details regarding the location will need to be arranged prior to the session. I do travel outside the immediate Fox Valley, however there may be a time and gas mileage compensation fee. I am open to outdoor session anytime of the year, but can we please avoid the -10 degree temps? 🙂
